Ebook About “Tense, addictive and powered by an unforgettable narrative voice.” - PAULA HAWKINS "A stunning debut...Suspenseful? You bet. Heart-rending? From beginning to end."—The Washington Post “Gripping…The voices of Chrissie and Julia reside deep in your skull: visceral and wicked, sad and wonderful, all at the same time.” —The New York Times “Fans of Lisa Jewell and smart psychological suspense will eagerly await Tucker’s next.” —Publishers Weekly, STARRED review“So that was all it took,” I thought. “That was all it took for me to feel like I had all the power in the world. One morning, one moment, one yellow-haired boy. It wasn't so much after all.”Meet Chrissie... Chrissie is eight and she has a secret: she has just killed a boy. The feeling made her belly fizz like soda pop. Her playmates are tearful and their mothers are terrified, keeping them locked indoors. But Chrissie rules the roost -- she's the best at wall-walking, she knows how to get free candy, and now she has a feeling of power that she never gets at home, where food is scarce and attention scarcer. Twenty years later, adult Chrissie is living in hiding under a changed name. A single mother, all she wants is for her daughter to have the childhood she herself was denied. That’s why the threatening phone calls are so terrifying. People are looking for them, the past is catching up, and Chrissie fears losing the only thing in this world she cares about, her child. Nancy Tucker leaves the reader breathless as she inhabits her protagonist with a shocking authenticity that moves the reader from sympathy to humor to horror to heartbreak and back again.Book The First Day of Spring: A Novel Review :
The First Day Of Spring by Nancy Tucker is devastating - and I mean that in the best possible way. Admittedly this is not a book for everyone. The abuse and neglect Chrissie endured is hard but necessary to read. It is to the author's credit that she tempers the awful with Chrissie's childlike analysis which can be humorous and heart breaking at the same time. I do think this book is mis-categorized as a mystery/thriller as it is neither of those things. It is more of a character study of a feral little girl trying to survive in the absence of love, with none of her needs met, and expressing her anger any way she can. I haven't read a book that packs such an emotional punch in a long time. Don't miss it. A very, very, very, good book. I was going to say brilliant, but that word is used too often. So it’s a very, very, very, very, good book. Many writers will wish to have written this book, because it is beautifully unique, and in it’s own class. Ms. Tucker puts us through exquisite turns of humor, sadness, and wonder. You soon realize that the child is gifted, but has not developed a conscience. She has not been given the tools to develop a conscience, but she knows what looks good or bad in society. She has been very bad in private, and your scared she is going to do it again. Will she do it again?—Bean Read Online The First Day of Spring: A Novel Download The First Day of Spring: A Novel The First Day of Spring: A Novel PDF The First Day of Spring: A Novel Mobi Free Reading The First Day of Spring: A Novel Download Free Pdf The First Day of Spring: A Novel PDF Online The First Day of Spring: A Novel Mobi Online The First Day of Spring: A Novel Reading Online The First Day of Spring: A Novel Read Online Nancy Tucker Download Nancy Tucker Nancy Tucker PDF Nancy Tucker Mobi Free Reading Nancy Tucker Download Free Pdf Nancy Tucker PDF Online Nancy Tucker Mobi Online Nancy Tucker Reading Online Nancy TuckerRead Beginning Power Apps: The Non-Developer's Guide to Building Business Applications By Tim Leung
